Tax Preparer Contract
(1099 Position)
Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation & Filing
Prepare business tax returns as assigned, following the established process map.
Provide timely client communication for questions and answers (Q&A).
Review returns with Lead Preparer, as requested.
Regularly track return progress in the shared drive.
Inform clients or employers about the tax preparation process.
Collect relevant financial records, including payroll reports and income statements.
Input financial data into tax return software.
Apply federal, state, and local tax laws to determine deductions and calculate amounts owed or refunded.
Complete and file tax documents with the appropriate agencies.
Represent clients with applicable agencies as required.
Review prior year documents to ensure all necessary information is obtained.
Collaborate with the bookkeeping team to finalize financial statements for tax preparation.
Submit returns via e-filing in Drake software.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required Certification: Must be a CPA or EA
Experience:
Over 5 years of current experience filing S Corporations, C Corporations, non-profits, and real estate business returns.
Familiarity with payroll adjustments.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of applicable tax laws, regulations, and deadlines.
Proficiency with tax preparation, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Experience navigating IRS and other government platforms for tax return submission and confirmation.
Soft Skills:
Excellent customer service skills, including patience and flexibility.
Strong organizational skills, including time management and strategic thinking.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Keen attention to detail.
Compensation:
Individual Tax Returns: $200 per return (+$50 if Schedule E or C is included; total, not per schedule).
Business Tax Returns: $400 per return.
Payment Structure:
50% paid upon data entry of client documents.
Remaining 50% paid upon IRS acceptance of the e-filed return.
