GENERAL PURPOSE
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of City recreation programs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Community Services Coordinator
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May provide general supervision to part-time, and volunteer personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinates recreation programs
Assures positive city image in public relations matters
Controls use of recreation equipment
Assists with Old Glory Days celebration
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties;
B. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Some knowledge of the methods and techniques of developing and operating recreation programs; rules and regulations of a variety of sports and recreational activities; the operation of personal computers and various software applications including spread sheets, word processing, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, various age groups, other organizations, and the public; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
3. Special Qualifications
Possession of a valid driver’s license is desirable.
4. Work Environment:
Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting and outside setting. Tasks require variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting. Talking, hearing and seeing essential to effective performance of essential functions. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exists. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Frequent local travel required in normal course of job performance.

FLSA AND AT-WILL STATUS
This position is an at-will position and is exempt from the protections of Utah Code 10-3-1105. As such, the Recreation Specialist may be terminated with or without cause and shall not be entitled to due process appeal authority as set forth in Utah Code 10-3-1106.
The Recreation Specialist position is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
