Recreational Therapist (RT) – Part-Time/PRN
Location: Davis and Weber Counties Reports to: Owner/Administrator
Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and creative Recreational Therapist (RT) to join our team, providing in-home therapeutic activities and engagement for clients with various forms of dementia. Working alongside private duty caregivers, the RT will design and implement personalized recreational programs that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and overall well-being.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field preferred.
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential is a plus.
Experience working with individuals with dementia in home care, long-term care, or community settings preferred.
Strong understanding of dementia-related behaviors and ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and facilitate engaging, individualized therapeutic activities to enhance cognitive function, mobility, and emotional well-being.
Provide one-on-one and small-group recreation therapy sessions tailored to the client’s interests, abilities, and stage of dementia.
Collaborate with private duty caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities into daily routines and educate them on engagement strategies.
Utilize music, art, reminiscence therapy, movement exercises, sensory activities, and other evidence-based approaches to support clients.
Assess and monitor client responses to interventions, adjusting activities as needed to maximize effectiveness.
Document client participation and progress, reporting significant changes to the administrator and care team.
Promote a safe and supportive environment by recognizing and addressing potential risks associated with dementia-related behaviors.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients and their families.
Schedule & Hours:
Part-time, flexible scheduling based on client needs.
Services provided in clients' private residences in Davis and Weber Counties.
