    Registered Dietician (Temporary/Full-Time) Child Care Council of Nassau (CCCN) seeks a temporary, full-time Registered Dietician to implement the Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings (EWPHCCS) Champion initiative. EWPHCCS is a childhood obesity prevention intervention administered by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) initiative. The EWPHCCS RD will implement the Champion initiative at nine CACFP-participating childcare centers annually. Responsibilities: • Deliver nutrition education workshops for preschool-aged children, caregivers, and childcare center staff using standardized curriculum • Provide technical assistance, resources, and mentoring for child care center staff regarding best practices in nutrition and physical activity; and assist with goal setting and action planning to implement best practices • Facilitate creation of a center-based workgroup involving key stakeholders; and facilitate workgroup meetings with the intent of creating practice and policy changes to support healthy eating and physical activity • Conduct follow-up meetings and training to support sustained implementation of practice and policy changes • Routinely collect and submit evaluation materials from participating child care centers according to established protocol • Maintain and submit accurate records of program expenditures • Positively represent SNAP-Ed Core Nutrition Messages • Additional tasks as required by supervisor Qualifications: • Registered Dietitian as registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Candidates with eligibility to sit for the registration exam may also qualify, provided they pass the exam within six months of hiring • Maintain an active ServSafe Certification or obtain certification within 30 days of employment • Must have reliable means to travel to various childcare locations throughout Long Island • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated • Demonstrates ability to communicate and work with individuals and families from diverse and underserved populations • Team player, well-organized, creative and collaborative • Community education experience • Experience creating and editing digital media • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Compensation: $32 - $36 hourly
