    Position Summary:

    The Regulatory Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing the production, handling, and distribution of chemical products. The role collaborates with various departments to assess, interpret, and implement regulatory requirements to maintain the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and product quality.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to chemical manufacturing, blending, labeling, packaging, and transportation.
    • Interpret regulatory requirements and ensure that all operations and products comply with these standards.
    • Manage permits, licenses, registrations, and other regulatory documents required for facility operations.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities within specified deadlines.
    • Coordinate the registration, notification, and documentation process for chemical products according to regulatory requirements in target markets.
    • Ensure accurate and timely submission of data and information to regulatory agencies.
    • Oversee the creation, updating, and distribution of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all products manufactured and blended at the facility.
    • Ensure SDS compliance with global regulations such as OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard and REACH.
    • Review and approve product labels and packaging materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including hazard communication labeling, pictograms, warnings, and instructions for safe handling and use.
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with chemical products and processes.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of employees, customers, and the environment.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to ensure that manufacturing processes and product formulations meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Participate in internal audits and inspections to verify compliance.
    • Provide regulatory training and education to employees on relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. Foster a culture of compliance and awareness throughout the organization.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders regarding regulatory matters.
    • Represent the company in regulatory meetings, conferences, and industry forums as needed.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and regulatory efficiencies within the organization.
    • Implement changes to policies, procedures, and systems to enhance regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Regulatory Affairs Certification) is a plus.
    • 3+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or related roles within the chemical manufacturing industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT, TSCA, REACH, GHS, and SDS requirements.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to practical situations.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.
