Location: Greenville, NC area (Tarboro, NC)
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the occupational therapy department, including staff management, patient evaluation and treatment planning, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to maximize patient functional independence and quality of life within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
- Conduct comprehensive OT evaluations to assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide direct patient care, including hands-on therapy interventions focused on activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing, bathing, eating, and transfers.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document therapy interventions accurately. Supervise and mentor OT staff, including Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs).
Staff Management:
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and standards (Medicare, state licensing).
- Collaborate with other healthcare disciplines within the facility (nursing staff, physical therapy, speech therapy) to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and insurance companies regarding treatment plans and progress.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and data analysis to identify areas for improvement.
Specialized Skills:
- Expertise in assessing and treating a variety of conditions affecting functional ability, including geriatric syndromes, stroke, dementia, arthritis, and orthopedic injuries.
- Ability to modify activities to meet individual patient needs and goals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other healthcare professionals and educate patients and families.
Required Qualifications:
- Current state license as an Occupational Therapist.
- Rehab director experience preferred
- Experience working in a skilled nursing facility setting preferred.
- Leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent documentation and reporting abilities.
