Position Description:
The Reliability Engineer will play a critical role in improving the safety and effectiveness of the equipment and processes in our high-purity chemical plant. The Reliability Engineer will create equipment reliability strategies to drive continuous improvement and implement best practices aligned with Process Safety Management and Responsible Care standards. The Reliability Engineer will interface with maintenance technicians, third-party contractors, process engineers, and project engineers to ensure equipment is selected, installed, operated, maintained, and decommissioned in a manner that minimizes risk and maximizes Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Key Responsibilities:
- HSSEE \- Actively support the implementation and maintenance of the company's HSSEE and Quality Management Systems
- HSSEE – Conduct Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify failure modes and address underlying issues affecting equipment and systems.
- Process Safety Management (PSM): Drive compliance/improvement of equipment reliability and Mechanical Integrity (MI) in accordance with OSHA PSM (29CFR 1910.119).
- Reliability and Performance Improvement: Develop KPIs and implement strategies to enhance process equipment reliability, overall plant performance (OEE), and utility/support systems (boilers, chillers, colling towers, etc). Conduct regular assessments of equipment and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Systems Improvement: Standardize CMMS usage and data inputs to enhance system effectiveness. Perform analyses and develop reports to track and improve the “Bad Actors” list, Predictive Maintenance processes, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and Spare Parts Inventory.
- Standardization: Draft, release, implement, and maintain maintenance practices and procedures, equipment and piping specifications, and predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Leadership: Support the Maintenance and Engineering Manager in leading a team of maintenance technicians, electrical & instrument technicians, external consultants, and third-party contractors. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the maintenance and engineering team.
- Training: Develop technical training programs for Operator-Based Maintenance, including competency assessments.
- Project Management: Support capital projects from concept through commissioning and ensure maintenance departments are ready and capable to maintain new installations. Support plant turnaround planning and execution.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in a maintenance and engineering role within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years’ experience with OSHA PSM-regulated processes required.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes such as NFPA, NEMA, API 510, 570, 571, etc.
- Familiarity with high-purity chemical production processes is a plus.
