Dobson DaVanzo & Associates, LLC is a health care consulting firm based in Vienna, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our core competencies include modeling the impact of Medicare and Medicaid payment policies on health care providers using a variety of statistical and econometric methodologies in order to aid in the development of future payment systems. The work of our principals has influenced numerous public policy decisions, and is reflected in legislation and regulation. Our research helps payers and providers develop, implement, and evaluate equitable payment methodologies in support of value-based purchasing. We apply decades of staff experience, access to a broad range of policymakers and subject matter experts, and innovative research techniques in order to best meet our clients’ needs. Our analyses, using public and private-sector data, are objective and rigorous.
We are seeking candidates with related qualifications and experience to fill a Research Analyst position.
Qualifications / Experience:
· A Master’s Degree, preferably in public policy, economics, healthcare management, public health, or statistics
· 2+ years of progressively responsible work experience in health care research, health policy analysis, and/or public sector consulting
· Preference will be given to candidates familiar with the Medicare Part D program, CMS alternative and prospective Medicare payment systems, and working knowledge and experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or other public health programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Be detail-focused and possess strong critical thinking, organizational, listening, and communication skills
· Ability to communicate complex ideas, verbally and in writing, in a clear, coherent, and concise manner
· Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, quickly learn and apply new skills, and adapt to changing needs and priorities across multiple projects in a demanding, fast paced work environment
· Ability to work independently and in teams
· Familiarity and experience with database manipulation, complex database construction and data analysis using statistical programs such as SAS, Python, R, etc. preferred
· Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Preparing summary tables and charts, interpreting quantitative and qualitative findings and summarizing findings in client reports and presentations
· Conducting comprehensive literature reviews and synthesizing findings
· Summarizing public comments on CMS proposed rules
· Assisting with the management and operation of DDA projects with CMS and other clients including project coordination, leading communication across teams and with clients, preparation of materials for and summarizing outcomes of client meetings, preparation of regular monthly progress reports, preparation of memoranda, presentations, and proposals as needed, and other administrative and research related support, as needed
