As a member of the Process Development group, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the downstream processing and drug product formulation of viral vectors. The Research Assistant or Research Associate position is a critical part of the team, able to follow research protocols and standard operating protocols (SOPs) with precision and consistency. Your day-to-day will be spent conducting experiments independently and in collaboration with other members of the scientific team. In this role, you will become comfortable with interactions at all levels in the organization, you see yourself as a quick learner, detail-oriented, a multi-tasker, self-reliant, problem-solving budding scientist with utmost integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills. Responsibilities:
• Participate in the design and execution of laboratory-scale experiments to optimize processes for viral vector production and formulation.
• Preparation of liquid culture media, buffers, and reagents to support experiments.
• Perform analytical testing using various analytical techniques.
• Record and analyze experimental data, verify data for integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project team.
• Maintenance of the laboratory including general housekeeping functions, ordering of supplies and equipment upkeep.
• Draft technical documents and perform technology transfer to collaborating partners including GMP manufacturing facilities.
• Working in a team/matrix environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives.
• Occasional weekend and after-hour work may be required.
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Engineering
Required Skills/Experience:
• Experience working in a scientific laboratory (academic or industry)
• Research Assistant: Some relevant laboratory experience working with large biomolecules (viruses, monoclonal antibody, etc.)
• Research Associate: At least 2 years of laboratory experience working with large biomolecules (some relevant laboratory experience for applicants with Master's degree)
• Experience in maintaining scientific/laboratory notebooks
• Excellent attention to detail, maintenance of records and organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with some supervision
• Self-directed and independent, but also able to effectively collaborate in a team setting
• Ability to meet deadlines; accommodate a flexible schedule to support the workload
Preferred Skills/Experience:
• Experience with viral vector culturing, purification, and formulation
• Experience in performing analytical testing of large biomolecules (viruses, monoclonal antibody, etc.)
