Clinical Research Coordinator

General Description of Assigned Duties:
Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties:
The Nurse I, Level 1 Clinical Research Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse’s obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments. Seeks guidance in how to improve care provided to patients and families. Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator assumes continuing responsibility for the coordination, management, implementation, and evaluation of VA funded clinical trials within Dallas VA Research Corporation (DVARC) a nonprofit and VHA Research and Development at North Texas Health Care Systems. The incumbent will function under the direction of the Local Site Investigator and the DVARC Director of Operations. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day management of study operations, to include subject recruitment, screening, enrollment and follow up; and communication with the study teams and data coordinating center for the study. The nurse coordinator will assist with all aspects of the clinical study; assuring compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements and source documentation.
Supervisory Controls:
The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Director of HR and Operations.

In addition to the Basic Requirements provided in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G6, paragraph 4, the following are the grade requirements.

This job is physically located at the Dallas VA, it is not a federal job. You will go through a VA appointment as a WOC. The position functions under DVARC, a research nonprofit.
This position can be filled with an RN or BSN degree and current credentials.
Salary range: 63,098 – 71,739 annually
