
Research Patient Experience Specialist
Position Summary
Our goal is to advance retinal research, offer new treatment opportunities to our community, and provide the highest quality patient care. Austin Retina Associates is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to help us provide unparalleled patient satisfaction by welcoming and checking in patients.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Greet and check in research subjects and inform study team of subject arrival
- Responsible for the scheduling of appointments, check-out processes, and scheduling transportation for subjects as needed
- Input routine subject data and manage administrative tasks as needed for supervisors
- Assist with the workflow of the clinical studies daily schedule by ensuring the Physicians and study staff are available at the appropriate time slots for each subject visit
- Maintain regular communication with clinical and research teams to ensure smooth operations
- Other duties assigned on an as needed basis delegated by Supervisor
Required Attributes
- Proficiency in patient interaction skills, such as maintaining a welcoming demeanor while handling multiple tasks
- Understanding of basic administrative systems while gaining proficiency with scheduling, data entry, and communication software
- Master multiple computer systems including Google Workspace, Excel, and Teams
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with physicians, coworkers and patients
- Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork in alignment with ARA core values-Serving with Compassion, Striving for Excellence, and Practicing Humility
- Excellent organizational and time management skills ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner satisfactory to the organization with ability to independently manage workflow
- Strong interpersonal skills including effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution with warm encouraging demeanor, able to relate well with others
- Experience in medical office front desk or administration
- Demonstrate a commitment to continual improvement in a feedback driven team
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Attributes
- Demonstrated warm demeanor when greeting and interacting with patients and staff. Smiles and readily approaches patients to welcome them
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships at work even in a high-paced, sometimes high-stress environment
- Bilingual in Spanish
- EMR & CTM experience a plus
Position Details
- Schedule Monday - Friday
- Travel not required
- Hourly pay, FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime
Physical Demands
Prolonged sitting, talking and hearing both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 15 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices constantly.
