    Position Overview:

    Claros Technologies' Functional Materials team is primarily focused on using sustainable chemistries to enable advanced materials in textiles and selective filtration application areas. We are seeking a collaborative, driven individual to join our team as a Research Scientist. The Research Scientist will be tasked with partnering the technical team to execute application-driven, fundamental research. Reporting to the Director of Functional Materials, this individual will require technical know-how, and will be responsible for day-to-day, hands-on laboratory activities.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Designing and executing laboratory experiments
    • Collecting and analyzing data
    • Reading, understanding, and interpreting scientific publications
    • Writing and presenting reports to internal team stakeholders
    • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace; Safety first mindset
    • General laboratory maintenance and upkeep

    Competencies & Skills:

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Independent thinker; strong problem solving skills; ability to troubleshoot technical issues

    • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations

    • Inquisitive mindset; curiosity-driven

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Understanding of basic chemistry principles, preferably exposure to materials science (emphasis on organic chemistry)

    • Design of experiments

    • Formulation chemistry; basic material characterization techniques such as FTIR, DSC, and TGA

    • Comfortable working in a fast past environment in a growing lab

    Preferred Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry related field (preference for materials science or chemistry); Masters degree a plus
    • 3-5 years experience in a research environment for private, commercial, or governmental work

    Job Specifications

    • Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000
    • Location: In person at the Claros Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
    • Travel: May be required periodically for purposes such as client site visits; not required on a regular or frequent basis.
