Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.
In this role, the successful candidate The Research Scientist brings experience designing and executing laboratory research on Staphylococcus aureus This position develops and implements advanced bacterial molecular biology and animal models of disease and treatment as well as classical immunological assays and clinical microbiology The Research Scientist will work on Dr Bo Shopsins research team in the Department of Medicine of NYU Langone Health performing research focused on S aureus antimicrobial tolerance pathogenesis of infection and colonization
Job Responsibilities:
* Developing a research plan in conjunction with their faculty supervisor nbsp;
* Within the predetermined research scope which will focus on the biology and genetics of the bacteria _Staphylococcus aureus_ design and independently conduct experiments nbsp;
* Collect and analyze data keeping appropriate laboratory records nbsp;
* Develop a deep understanding of the scientific literature appropriate for the discipline being studied including performing literature searches reading scholarly articles and engaging in scientific discourse with colleagues nbsp;
* Communicate the results of their research through scholarly journals grant applications presentation of posters at scientific conferences and oral presentations nbsp;
* Maintain an orderly and safe laboratory environment including assisting in the ordering of supplies and equipment safely categorizing and disposing of hazardous materials nbsp;
* As appropriate assist in the management of laboratory personnel Includes training and supervision of undergraduate medical and graduate students as well as junior postdoctoral fellows nbsp;
* Be trained in the safe conduct of their research As appropriate the following training may be required: nbsp;
* Responsible Conduct of Research nbsp;
* Animal Safety nbsp;
* Chemical Biological and Radioactive Materials Safety nbsp;
* An annual performance review will be conducted to ensure expectations of both the faculty supervisor and the postdoctoral fellow are being met and to establish new goals and objectives for the coming year nbsp;
* Other duties as assigned At the time of employment the supervising faculty member will establish performance expectations with the incumbent nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Desired Qualifications Education and Training: PhD in the appropriate field/discipline Characteristics: Must be able to take ownership of projects and work with great independence and sound judgment Exhibit meticulous attention to detail Willing to ask for help and assistance from team members proactively scheduling meetings to discuss questions etc Possess time management skills and the ability to multitask Working Conditions/Physical Demands General laboratory and office work

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52,649.99 - $60,949.05 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
