    Researcher I (GOP Caucus) - This position is required to work in the office in St. Paul, MN between the Senate Building and the State Capitol.

    Salary: For an entry-level Researcher, the annual salary will range from $64,540 - $108,451. Actual starting salary will depend on professional work experience, qualifications, and related legislative/government experience.

    Telework: This position works on-site in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol during the legislative session. When the legislature is not in session, flexible hybrid options may be available.

    Days of Work/Hours: Monday-Friday/8am-5pm. This position requires long and irregular hours and the ability to meet tight deadlines during the legislative session, including evening and weekend work. Additional paid time off will be available.

    Position Summary

    The Researcher will conduct research, develop legislation, serve as a policy expert, and respond to constituent requests for members of the Senate Republican caucus.

    An ideal candidate will have a demonstrable interest in the legislative process and public policy. We seek someone who has strong research and writing skills to effectively communicate their research to those requestors.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in political science, Public Policy, Public or Business Administration, Social Science, Writing, Communications, Marketing, or related area of study.

    OR

    Two (2) years of experience in policy advocacy, public policy, public administration, marketing communications, state or local government, government affairs, research, or related.

    In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

    • Strong writing, analytical, research, and communication skills to explain legislation, policies, and issues to the public, news media, and other interested parties.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with legislators, legislative staff, executive branch personnel, media personnel, lobbyists, and the public.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.

    • Ability to work independently and with a team.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple on-going projects.
