    Job Description

    The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Chicago, IL. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the Construction Engineering and Management industry and have a proven track record of major successful projects for transit and rail projects.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Provides technical direction and guidance to staff and subordinate engineers/inspectors, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
    • Supervises field staff, coordinates field activities, and provides project progress reports to the Client and AECOM Department Manager
    • Prepares and manages quality and safety plans for the project
    • Work with the Department Manager on development and execution of significant project pursuits and delivery
    • Assist the Department Manager to formulate and execute project opportunity capture strategies, including teaming and positioning for major pursuits, helping in proposal efforts and identification of required staff resources to win and effectively deliver projects
    • Establish relationships with external clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and construction contractors
    • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • BA/BS + 8 years of related experience or AA/AS (US) + 10 years of related experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 10 years of related experience or HS/GED + 12 years of related experience
    • Valid Driver’s License required

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
    • Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois is preferred.
    • 10 + years of resident engineering experience managing transit/rail construction projects
    • Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
