    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Residential Counselor provides for the direct supervision of residents of the Plummer Residential Programs during his/her shift. The Residential Counselor is an integral part of the treatment team and works with Residents daily to assist them in achieving their identified treatment goals. This is a full-time role and is eligible to participate in employer provided medical and dental benefits. Shifts are Tuesday through Saturday 7am-3pm.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

    Authentically engage residents and their Parents/Identified Caregivers by demonstrating Youth Guided;

    Strength Based, Trauma-informed and Family Driven interventions.

    Provide direct supervision for residents of the Plummer Residential Programs

    Effectively engage residents via the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) Model.

    Effectively utilize Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to maintain a safe environment.

    Effectively document interventions /progress on Daily Progress Notes using APRICOT.

    Accurately complete the shift entry in the daily Communication log at the end of each shift.

    Assist in daily meal preparation, and weekly menu planning.

    Administer medications in accordance with MAP policy.

    Engage youth through the PAYA curriculum.

    Provide transportation for residents to and from appointments, work etc.

    Assist residents in weekly grocery shopping.

    Assist residents in maintaining the daily cleanliness of the program.

    Attend all relevant meetings as assigned by the Program Manager.

    Demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the overall milieu, including adjusting schedules, or milieu

    assignments as deemed necessary by the Program Manager.

    Attend supervision, in-service training, trainings, conferences, and all meetings deemed necessary by the

    Program Director or his/her designee.

    Process concerns and incidents with milieu staff and clients in an appropriate and professional manner.

    Accept additional responsibility as assigned by Program Manager or their designee.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Attend and actively engage in all monthly staff meetings.

    Attend and actively engage in scheduled Supervision.

    Other duties as assigned.

    PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)

    Strong verbal and written skills.

    Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork skills.

    Ability to handle a fast-paced and stressful environment.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Valid Massachusetts Driver’s license and Acceptable driving History.

    Visual and hearing acuity to perform job functions.

    Ability to ascend and descend stairways.

    Ability to bend, reach, move and lift 75 pounds.
