Job Description
The Residential Electrician is a journeyman-level professional responsible for performing luxury residential electrical installations, service, and repairs with minimal supervision. This role requires a solid foundation in electrical systems, familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), and the ability to interpret blueprints and troubleshoot effectively. The ideal candidate has high attention to detail, takes pride in clean, code-compliant work, and is capable of working independently while maintaining HTS’s standards of excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Install wiring systems for lighting, outlets, switches, and specialty outlets in new construction and remodel projects
Replace or upgrade electrical panels, breakers, and related components
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to complete installations accurately
Ensure all work complies with the NEC, local North Carolina codes, and HTS standards
Perform service panel work, including adding circuits and rearranging configurations
Diagnose faults in electrical circuits and make necessary repairs using appropriate testing tools
Install a variety of fixtures including ceiling fans, chandeliers, dimmer switches, and smart lighting systems
Retrofit existing circuits to support high-demand appliances or updated layouts
Conduct quality checks to ensure installations are clean, safe, and functional
Maintain organized and clean workspaces, reducing safety hazards and enhancing efficiency
Collaborate with team members and communicate project updates clearly
Provide guidance to Electrical Helpers or apprentices on site as needed
Job Requirements (or Comparable Certifications)
Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on residential electrical experience
Journeyman-level knowledge of electrical systems and NEC compliance
Ability to work independently and complete full electrical scopes in residential settings
Proficient with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and circuit testers
Strong understanding of wiring methods, service panel work, and residential fixtures
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams
Must be detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in crawlspaces or attics
Strong communication skills and a professional attitude with clients and team members
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required
Clean background check
North Carolina electrician license or ability to obtain preferred
