RHD is seeking a full time Benefits Assistant to provide administrative and communications support to the Benefits department, and customer service support to the employees of RHD.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Assist with managing communication with and for new and existing benefit eligible employees.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of employee benefits files
- Respond promptly and completely to all inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
- Creates new employee benefits files Prepare and mail benefits-related communications to benefits eligible employees and programs
- Acknowledge receipt, log and distribute incoming mail and faxes in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Update health and dental carrier portals with enrollment and benefit change data
- Provide quality review of employee benefits data in automated Human Resources Information System
- Assist Benefit Administrators with administrative tasks and functions
- Distribute all materials for benefits: annual open enrollment, summary plan descriptions, etc.
- Monitor annual evidence of Insurability applications.
- Maintain sufficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), and Lawson HRIS as it relates to benefits processes.
- Work collaboratively with payroll, and other internal departments as needed.
- Maintain supplies of benefits material stock levels for department submitting re-orders and checking deliveries as necessary
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Provides quality customer service to RHD employees.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience required in general office practice
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
Required Qualifications
- Must have solid data entry skills and familiarity with entering data into online portals and databases.
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially mail merges), Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and the Internet
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and accurate record-keeping abilities.
- Excellent communication skills-both written and oral.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Ability to take initiative and accept ownership and responsibility for assigned projects.
- Ability to work in fast-paced open environment with accuracy and attention to detail
Program Summary
Resources for Human Development is a national human services nonprofit with the broadest possible service mission, and specializes in creating innovative, quality services that support people of all abilities wherever the need exists. Founded in 1970, RHD supports more than 160 human service programs across the country, serving tens of thousands of people every year with caring and effective programs addressing intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health, homelessness, addiction recovery and more.
RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate. Revised PDPH guidance allows for new hires to be partially vaccinated at the time of hire. This means they have received at least one shot in a two-dose series or a single dose in a one-dose series before beginning in-person shifts. The final dose must be received within 8 weeks of hire (start date). This currently does not include boosters.
