Job Summary The Lavaux Swiss Wine And Fondue Bar seeks a professional Captain to lead our dining room team. This individual will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences, providing in-depth knowledge of the menu and beverage program, and effectively addressing all guest inquiries.
Responsibilities
Customer service: Hosting, greeting guests, taking orders, and ensuring food and drinks are delivered on time
Training and supervision: Training and mentoring new staff, and supervising servers and bussers
Inventory management: Managing the inventory of food, drinks, and supplies
Restaurant operations: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organized restaurant
Guest satisfaction: Monitoring guest satisfaction and addressing any issues
Menu knowledge: Explaining menu items, offering recommendations, and answering questions
Team coordination: Coordinating the work of team members to maintain service quality
Bill presentation: Presenting the final bill to guests
Qualifications
A minimum of two years of experience as a captain in a fine dining establishment within NYC.
No less than three years of experience in hospitality as a server or waiter.
The ability to collaborate effectively as part of a pooled house environment.
Flexibility to work both lunch and dinner shifts.
Superior verbal communication skills in English.
A genuine passion for food, wine, and hospitality.
Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours, bend, push, pull, and lift 30 lbs.
