As a cashier at Mia's Table, your primary responsibility is to ensure smooth and efficient payment transactions for customers while providing excellent customer service.
Your key duties and responsibilities include:
Operating the cash register: Accurately and efficiently handling cash and electronic transactions, including scanning items, totaling bills, processing credit card payments, and providing change to customers.
Customer service: Greeting customers, assisting with inquiries, and providing information about menu items, promotions, and special offers. Addressing customer concerns or issues and escalating them to the appropriate Manager or Lead when necessary.
Order processing: Taking orders from customers, either in person or over the phone, and accurately entering them into the point-of-sale system. Ensuring all items are charged appropriately and accurately.
Upselling: Actively promoting and upselling additional food items, beverages, or desserts to increase sales and enhance the customer experience.
Cash management: Balancing the cash register at the start and end of each shift to ensure accurate accounting of sales and cash drawer. Following cash handling procedures and maintaining a secure and organized cash register area.
Maintaining cleanliness: Ensuring the cashier station is clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies like receipts, bags, and promotional materials. Cleaning and sanitizing the counter area regularly.
Teamwork and collaboration: Collaborating with other members of the restaurant staff, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure efficient operations and seamless customer service.
Knowledge of menu and policies: Familiarizing yourself with Mia's Table menu offerings, daily specials, and restaurant policies to address customer inquiries accurately and provide suggestions or recommendations.
Follow health and safety regulations: Adhering to food safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Reporting any incidents, accidents, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be 18 years of age.
Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role is preferred but not always required.
Fluent English
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in operating a cash register and handling electronic payment systems.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of food and restaurant industry is a plus.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing exceptional service to customers.
Food Handler and TABC Certifications required.
