    Job Summary: The Retail Sales Associate at Welders Supply & Gases is responsible for assisting customers with the purchasing and ordering of welding equipment, hard goods, and industrial gases. Primary duties also include receiving incoming stock, picking and packing, and shipping outgoing orders.

    Accountabilities:

    Assist customers in-store as well as by phone to purchase and order products.

    Perform customer service activities such as answering questions, resolving customer challenges, and tracing order statuses or product shipments.

    Evaluate and recommend appropriate products, equipment, and/or programs to customers based on need.

    Promote 'add-on' sales of gases and high-margin hard goods accessories.

    Keep the retail store stocked with merchandise and maintain product pricing labels.

    Handle cash and charge account transactions.

    Process cylinder returns, exchanges, and purchases.

    Unload/load gas cylinders to maintain stock on the cylinder dock.

    Receive and putting away stock and part orders, as needed.

    Load trucks and trailers with outgoing products.

    Maintain inventory storage locations and product identification labels.

    Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the retail store, the sales counter, and warehouse work areas.

    Maintain customer records and files, including keying orders, accurate account setup information, and appropriate pricing discount information.

    Work closely with and provide sales support to the Inside Sales team.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Excellent customer service skills.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Education & Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    1+ year(s) of Customer Service/Inside Sales/Counter Sales is a plus.

    Knowledge or experience in the gas, welding, and safety supply industry is a plus.

    Will train without experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders; lift 50-75 pounds and maneuver 100+ pound cylinders (rolling, using a cart, etc.).

    Performing work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary.
