    Definition of Role

    The Store Manager position is a supervisory role responsible for the day-to-day operations of a cigar and tobacco retail outlet. This role is defined as the lead position for managing store operations, which requires sound decision making combined with the ability to effectively lead store personnel, and practice intelligent and effective business techniques.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Builds and leads a cohesive team of sales associates.

    Trains and supervises sales associates by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.

    Leads and Mentors Sales Associates’ continuous development of sales skills aligned with Emerson’s Cigar Sales Process (A.I.D.A.).

    Promotes a positive environment conducive for continuous improvement and excellent customer service.

    Communicates company policies, initiatives, and promotions to all staff in an organized, timely, and effective manner.

    Actively participates with peer managers in completing assigned tasks. Attends management meetings prepared and willing to share perspectives.

    Maintains and ensures that the store is kept clean and stocked with the appropriate merchandise/operating supply quantities.

    Ensures that product inventories are accurate in company POS system.

    Trains newly hired staff on company/store procedures and policies

    Develops and leads employees in store merchandising tactics, including display, signage, positioning, organization, etc.

    Drafts work schedule to cover store operation hours based on allocated personnel hours and business levels.

    Monitors and approves employee timesheets on a weekly basis.

    Acts as liaison between store personnel and company management. Keeps management informed of store and personnel issues, such as store maintenance, personnel issues, staffing needs, etc.

    Responsible for the administration and organization of store personnel documentation.

    Responsible for drafting employee performance reviews and providing compensation recommendations.

    Responsible for administering employee performance reviews in a timely manner.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and POS systems.

    2-3 years of retail sales experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.

    Ability to lead in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.

    High School graduation or equivalent.

    Experience in the tobacco industry is a plus.
