THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY:We are seeking experienced Assistant Buyer - TOPS to join Ricki’s Home Office located in Winnipeg.Assistant Buyers work as part of our team that selects and procures product that will achieve Ricki’s financial goals and provide fashionable clothing to our customers. Our Assistant Buyers assist in creating purchase orders, managing product samples, and acting as a liaison with vendors on day to day issues. Reporting to our Buyer, the successful candidate will;THE COMPETENCIES: GREAT PRODUCT: − Order Management and Maintenance: ensures orders are processed correctly; guaranteeing scheduled delivery dates; confirming orders; following-up on deliveries; etc.− Performs the necessary statistical and administrative tasks, maintaining samples etc.− Active participant within fits, approvals, and meetings− Work in an organized manner – using and maintaining supplied tools and archiving work appropriately− Follow up with internal and external partners to ensure the product cycle deadlines are being met− Manage all product samples and prepare merchandise for meetings, visual merchandising and photography etc.− Develop understanding of assigned categories through brand customer, product knowledge, store visits, and competitor awareness.GREAT BUSINESS / RESULTS ORIENTED: − Understands the overall objectives of the department and takes initiative− Handles day-to-day work challenges confidently; adapts to change well by re-organizing their daily schedule according to priority− Detail oriented, and skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking – constantly looking for ways to do more and better work− Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions− Displays a sense of urgency and maintains accountabilityQUALIFICATIONS: ▪ Post-secondary degree in Retail Management or Fashion; or equivalent combination of education and experience▪ Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners▪ Demonstrate strong listening, written and oral communication skills▪ Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision▪ Strong interpersonal skills – collaborative, a team player▪ Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task or shift between projects seamlesslyWe thank all applicants for their interest however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
