Riddell Research and Development Intern:

Riddell is a premier designer, developer and marketer of helmets and protective equipment used by professional and amateur athletes in team sports. Founded in 1929, Riddell is a household name in competitive sports, particularly well for inventions that include removable cleats used in football, baseball and track shoes; the first seamless basketball; and suspension systems for football helmets. Today, Riddell is the leading manufacturer of football helmets, shoulder pads, reconditioning services (cleaning, repairing, repainting and recertifying existing equipment) and collectible helmets.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized and talented engineering student to join our Des Plaines office for the summer of 2022.  The successful intern will be part of the Research and Development team that is responsible for the design and development of Riddell products.  Responsibilities will include supporting the daily activities and projects of the R&D team as well as taking on at least one major project during the internship. Position  is on-site Des Plaines, IL  starting May and run through August.

Typical Job Functions:

• Gather research on a subject/project and create summary report for engineering team

• Familiarity with Solidworks, Rhino 3D, Creo, or similar 3D software

• Test functional prototypes to verify design intent through virtual or physical methods

• Enter and analyze data using Microsoft Excel, Word

• Work closely with our mechanical engineers and industrial designers to conceptualize new product ideas 

Qualifications:

• CAD experience preferred

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint

• Ability to relate to and collaborate with a diverse array of functional areas

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Superior attention to detail 

• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
