About The Right To The City Alliance (RTTC) and RTTC Action
Right To The City Alliance (RTTC) emerged in 2007 as a unified response to gentrification and a call to halt the displacement of low-income people, people of color, marginalized LGBTQ communities, and youth of color from our historic urban neighborhoods. We are a national alliance of racial, economic, and environmental justice organizations. Through shared principles and a common frame and theory of change, RTTC is building a national movement for democratic, just, and sustainable cities. RTTC Action is an affiliated 501(c)4 organization coordinating advocacy, lobbying, and integrated voter engagement (IVE) work, including electoral campaigns. RTTC Action is a vehicle to develop the renter class as a political bloc to contest governing power through coordinated strategy, trans-local alignment, and strategic movement infrastructure.
Organizational Work Culture
We take the work seriously, but not ourselves: Right to the City Action is committed to a work culture of care and balance. We understand that rigor and rest are compatible and both are necessary to reach our movement-building goals. We actively work to audit our policy and culture in service of our commitment to racial justice and feminist praxis. Principled struggle and generative conflict are core commitments and we take a transformative approach to resolving harm. While we take our commitments seriously, our work environment commonly includes jokes, laughter, celebration, and all other manner of enjoyable human experiences.
