SOS Personnel is urgently hiring a Roman Catholic Priest to provide Chaplain Services for the Department of Veterans Affairs Salt Lake City.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must
be an Ordained Roman Catholic priest who possesses the authority to administer the Sacraments – Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of Tenace, the Sacrament of the Sick and celebrate Mass once per week.
be able to provide to the Chief of Chaplain Service a letter or valid endorsement from his Religious authority of his credentials and that he is in good standing with Roman Catholic Church to perform administration of the Sacraments, and celebrate Mass required in the VA pluralistic setting.
have the training of his religious faith group that is in accordance with their established standards.
be proficient in written and spoken English.
have experience working within the VA hospital setting or a hospital setting.
WORK HOURS:
The ideal candidate is expected to provide emergent call availability as requested and agreed upon with the Chief of Chaplain Service.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate:
will conduct an appropriate Roman Catholic religious service for veteran patients only and at their request, this religious service will be held in the Chapel and last for a maximum of 30 min. It will occur for a maximum of one instance per week /52 instances per year.
will provide patient requested sacramental ministry to Roman Catholic veteran in-patients only and must be at their request.
must be willing to return to the Salt Lake Medical Center in emergencies for critical / end of life and for the Anointing of the Sick Roman Catholic veteran cases when requested by the veteran or family.
will conduct Weekday 30 minute Mass services PER WEEK.
will conduct Religious Services- Christmas, Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday (Mass) Under normal circumstances, Religious services is not to exceed one (1) hour. To include setup and break down.
