Tutor Job Description with TEACH in Trenton
For the past 10 years, TEACH has been supporting students 1-on-1 and in small group settings with exceptional academic, test prep, and enrichment lessons. Our strong connections to local schools and non-profit organizations offer unique opportunities for tutor contractors to be classroom instructors in addition to providing local families with 1-on-1 support. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educators who are ready to dismantle educational barriers that students and families face and open up educational opportunities through tutoring.
Priority Tutor Positions for the 2024-2025 School Year
We are looking for multiple high school SAT prep instructors with prior tutoring experience and daytime availability.
High School SAT Test Prep Instructor:
This is a part time employee position, working with an average of 20 students in person during whole class instruction.
- Commitment: The commitment is between 1.5 to 6 hours per week. The instructor would need to be available anytime from 8am-3:30pm: Monday-Friday. Exact schedule would be provided in advance.
- Start date: mid January
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 1-2 years of experience in 1-on-1 or in a small group/classroom setting
- Interest in tutoring with TEACH for 1+ years
- Available to travel locally in Trenton for in-person lessons
- Ability to complete federal and NJ state background checks and clearances
- A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with ESL students.
- A masters in education and/or additional certification in reading or math
- 2-5 years of experience tutoring or teaching in a 1-on-1, small group, or classroom setting
- Understanding of student-centered learning practices and high impact tutoring
Tutor Responsibilities
- Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet students' needs
- Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
- Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and check-in about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail
- Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation
Compensation
$100 per hour for whole class SAT prep instruction
