SCOUT Space Inc. is excited to announce our 2024 internship program! We are seeking candidates in various engineering fields. Please see the below role definitions for these opportunities. All internship opportunities are mainly remote, but may involve in-person opportunities.

SCOUT is building a new way to see and operate in space: with a new paradigm of data empowering every satellite to make space safer. We first deployed space-based situational awareness capabilities in June 2021, and are growing rapidly to keep up the momentum: we're looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and ready to evolve the space industry with us!

Responsibilities:

• Understand and develop mechanical requirements and constraints for spacecraft sensor subsystems
• Contribute to mechanical design and thermal analysis
• Design and model optomechanical prototypes and test equipment
• Support lab-based sensor integration and testing

Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related field.
• Rising Juniors, Seniors, or graduate students only.
• SolidWorks expertise
• Python familiarity
• Highly preferred: Demonstrated collaborative experience in a business or project environment.

Our positions are based in Reston, Virginia, with much of our team operating in a hybrid or remote fashion. Our preference is for candidates in or around this area as we scale our facilities and engineering team to provide more opportunities to work and collaborate in-person.
