Job Description

SEED Beauty is seeking for a dynamic, high energy, creative Formulator/ Chemist, who can formulate new and existing base formulas to develop innovative products. The ideal candidate will work cross functionally with other departments to ensure our quality meets our customer needs. Given that ColourPop launches more new products than any other cosmetics brand (weekly, monthly, annually), this person must be able to independently drive initiative and complete projects under tight deadlines.

• Responsible for independently identifying and developing innovative and consumer-relevant technology and formulas
• Experiment on the bench with raw materials, emulsification systems, processing techniques, and formulation in traditional and/or non-conventional creative approaches
• Support lab technicians and batch and fill technicians by being a technical resource
• Explore and pursue innovation to integrate new products· Create product specifications for new formulations, modified formula or existing formula
• Anticipate and identify scale-up and commercialization issues for new products and formulations
• Write, review and approve production batch procedures and monitor pilots and scale ups batches
• Conduct root cause analysis to determine formula parameters and solve stability issues
• Work in a close-knit team environment collaborating with Sales and Manufacturing
• Make critical observations, solve problems, and proactively make decisions in pursuing the direction of projects
• Recognize patentable technology and develop patent strategy accordingly
• Develop industry network that can be leveraged to enable the innovation process, including participation in industry organizations such as SCC and developing relationships with raw material suppliers· Adhere to company safety guidelines at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager

YOUR ATTRIBUTES:

• BS in Chemistry or equivalent years of relative experience
• 4+ years hands on formulation experience or equivalents
• Experience working with and fully understand the scientific method within a lab environment is required
• Ability to successfully batch and fill and color match in the lab environment Knowledge and experience of regulatory restrictions for CTFA, EU and Japan
• Possess good product knowledge· Proactive, accountable and goal oriented to achieve results and professional growth
• Ability to work well under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects; use a good judgement in difficult situations
• Self-starter with high level of initiative and possess the ability to make decisions in order to maintain progress on projects
• Make quality decisions weighing the relevant variables and always acting in the best interest of the brand, its employees and customers Approaches situations with a collaborative mindset to ensure the team’s success
• Understand the right message medium and uses active listening skills Strong communication skills: verbal and written. Spanish is a plus!
• Highly driven and willing to take on tasks of all levels of difficulty
