SEIU Communications Center, an organization dedicated to advocating for quality health care and good jobs for all, is hiring Contact Center Agents. We seek candidates who are passionate about progressive politics, labor issues and social justice movements, and who want to make a difference.
Contact Center Agents will make outbound phone calls and conduct conversations with current and prospective union members, encouraging them to take actions in support to their Union’s work. That work involves advancing the interests of America’s working families. Our center also places telephone calls to collect polling and survey research data, and to mobilize constituents on behalf of our clients, turning folks out for elections, rallies, and other events. Our clients including labor unions, their allies, pollsters, and political campaigns. We also place calls to put constituents in touch with their elected officials or other decision makers, helping citizens to lobby for their desired policy outcomes. While some of our projects require a purely unbiased approach to data collection, many of the jobs we do involve persuading and motivating respondents to take some action -- attend an event, give money, vote for a candidate or ballot initiative, become a union member, etc.-- which we have good reason to believe they should support.
This is a per-diem position, but we do work all year-round. Due to Covid-19 this position will start remotely but will transition to our Midtown location when offices reopen. The job pays $16.50 per hour and THERE IS A PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF 75 HOURS.
Qualifications:
• Must have high speed internet access
• Must have a laptop or desktop computer • Must have suitable voice, be articulate, enthusiastic, and represent well on the telephone • Must be comfortable talking to strangers • Prior experience in fundraising, sales, polling, or other persuasive telephone or canvass outreach work is ideal • Evening, nighttime, and weekend availability preferred • Excellent English reading and speaking skills essential; fluency in Spanish, a plus • Knowledge of current events • Type 25+ words per minute, adept in basic computer use, including web browser navigation
