    Job Summary:

    We are seeking experienced part-time Medical School Admissions Counselors to join our team! We are looking for part-time college counselors for college students aspiring to further their academic journey in to Medical school. Previous experience as a Medical School Admissions consultant with former admissions officer experience at esteemed universities is essential for this position. As a part time Medical School Admissions coach you will work with students on creating a strong AMCAS application. You will further aid students in creating a plan that best suits their application timeline including finding clinical opportunities, mapping out courses, looking for ways to strengthen the activities section, forming a list of schools, deciding when and who to ask for letters of recommendation, editing essays, engaging in mock interviews, making a study plan for the MCAT, and deciding when to apply.

    The ideal candidate that we are looking for will help students through the college admissions process including creating academic and extracurricular road maps, profile building, providing college application structure and feedback, assisting with discovering their passion and help identify a career path.

    Responsibilities:

    Finding Clinical Opportunities: Help students look for clinical openings in their area. Give them ideas on what experiences might enrich their application and cater towards their end goal/specialty. Walk students through different certifications that might help strengthen them as a candidate. Help student get involved with volunteering and research.

    Mapping Out Courses: More for students early in their undergrad career; academic advising. Help students decide what courses to take and when as well as how it may impact their MCAT scheduling.

    Activities Strengthening: Help students find activities outside of medicine that they enjoy participating in as well as aid them in fostering that passion to work towards larger projects. Help student apply themselves outside of academics and excel in their personal lives.

    Forming a School List: Help students find schools based on their academics as well as interests, offerings, distance, costs, etc. Help narrow down the list to safety, target, and reach schools as well as making sure students are meeting all requirements for admission to each.

    Letters of Recommendation: Aid students in choosing appropriate people to ask for letters of recommendation and help format emails to ask said teachers, bosses, advisors, coaches, etc. Help students decide how and when to ask as well.

    Mock Interviews: Prepare students for med school interviews through practice sessions. Simulate a comparable environment and formulate questions that would likely be asked.

    MCAT Study Plan: Lead student in choosing a timeline on when to take the MCAT. Work with student to create a detailed study schedule, broken down into content review, practice, etc.

    Editing Essays And Choosing an Application Cycle: Work with student to choose the best course of action in terms of when to apply. Help them gauge when they will be their most competitive. Help edit essays and personal statements and provide constructive feedback.

    Qualifications:

    Prior experience as an Medical School admissions officer

    Prior experience as a Medical School Admissions coach

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Master’s degree in relevant areas with counseling credentials

    Being able to commit to work with the assigned students over multiple years in their college career
