    Smart Start of Forsyth County (SSFC) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide comprehensive assessments of children enrolled in Pre-K settings within Forsyth County, North Carolina.

    Project Overview

    SSFC seeks a contractor with expertise in early childhood assessment to conduct evaluations of children's developmental progress and learning environments within Pre-K programs. Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Education Manager, the Contracted Pre-K position conducts assessments in early care and education programs. The selected candidate will be paid to conduct the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Environment Rating Scales (ECERS), and the Brigance Early Childhood Screening. This position requires daily travel to early childhood classrooms throughout Forsyth County, year-round. The work schedule varies from week to week.

    Contractor Responsibilities

    • Conduct early childhood assessments using standardized tools and methodologies in assigned Pre-K Priority classrooms.
    • Maintain professionalism, objectivity, and cultural sensitivity during all assessments.
    • Collaborate with SSFC staff, including Success Coaches and the Early Childhood Education Manager.
    • Analyze assessment data to ensure fidelity of implementation within Pre-K Priority classrooms.
    • Communicate assessment findings both orally and in writing.
    • Maintain detailed contact logs and enter data into the SSFC PKI Data System.
    • Submit all necessary documentation to the Early Childhood Education Manager.

    Contractor Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience in the early childhood field.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the Early Childhood field, with demonstrated skills in conducting assessments and writing formal reports.
    • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
    • Ability to work independently and manage assessment schedules efficiently is crucial.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Independent Contractor status.
    • Competitive compensation per assessment, ranging from $30.00 to $50.00.
    • Standard IRS mileage reimbursement rate for travel associated with assessments.
    • Contractors are responsible for their taxes and benefits. No benefits are included in the contract.
    • Contractors must adhere to established invoicing and mileage reimbursement procedures.

    Selection Process

    Interested contractors should submit a detailed proposal outlining qualifications, relevant experience, a proven approach to conducting assessments, and references.

    Language Skills

    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, site managers, clients, parents, and the public.
    • Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Must be able to perform sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    • This is a contracted position; Benefits are not Included.
    • The role is field-based and follows a traditional work week, remote work, and occasional on-site meetings during working hours.

    Location & Travel:

    • This position is based in Winston-Salem, NC. Travel is local during the business day.
