    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Humane Educator will plan and implement a part-time humane education program in Fort Worth ISD elementary schools, with the primary goal of promoting responsible pet ownership and compassion for all living things. This position requires active participation in program delivery with the goal of giving 20-25 all day programs to about 9,000 students over the upcoming school year. The programs are given by grade level at each school over the course of one day.

    Working with the humane education coordinator, the humane educator will:

    • Schedule and teach humane education programs at FWISD elementary programs, summer camps, and afterschool programs.
    • Prepare, track, and submit reports, including the number of programs delivered and number of students that receive these lessons.
    • Stuff goody bags as needed (when volunteers are unavailable to help).
    • Maintain an inventory of books and goody bag items given to the students.
    • Be an ambassador for Spay Neuter Network in representing and teaching compassion and empathy to people and animals.

    EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, and QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred, but not required.
    • Training and/or experience working with children of all ages preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills, presentation skills, and time management skills.
    • Positive attitude as well as ability to be self-motivated and disciplined.
    • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of teaching methods to accommodate students’ varied learning processes. Skill in lesson planning and presentation.
    • Must be able to stand all day to teach multiple classes at each school.
    • Must love animals and not be afraid of pets. (Position does not require you to work with live animals.)
    • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving and criminal record.
    • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Sincere interest in SNN mission and vision.
    • Background check must be free of any incidents of cruelty to animals.

    • Able to maintain accurate records, write and speak effectively regarding the principles, purposes and objectives of SNN.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds and endure long periods of standing and bending. Tolerate intermittent exposure to high noise levels.
