Job Overview
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing all processes involved in the production of compounded sterile preparations. Your work will strictly adhere to USP <797>/<800> regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
Perform high-risk sterile compounding in an ISO classified cGMP environment.
Utilize aseptic techniques when working within the clean room.
Accurately compound sterile preparations in compliance with master formula worksheets.
Conduct compounding calculations and maintain thorough documentation.
Operate manufacturing equipment to ensure the delivery of quality medication.
Maintain an ISO classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfection of the cleanroom.
Assist with the sterilization of components used in the compounding process.
Perform ancillary tasks supporting the compounding process, such as bubble point testing, inventory accounting, autoclaving, and LEAN manufacturing tasks (5S, RCCM, GEMBA).
Undergo training and qualification in sterile operations via the internal training program.
Prepare work areas and supplies thoroughly before compounding.
Assist with other departmental duties to ensure the execution of the production schedule.
Ensure adherence to company policies regarding cleansing and garbing.
Observe and provide training on sterile operations to new hires.
Transfer products to visual inspection.
Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications and Skills
Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Able to work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods (4 hours plus).
Comfortable working with hazardous substances (drugs) and strong odors (such as peracetic acid).
Effective communication and collaboration skills within a team.
Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
Capable of fully gowning in aseptic garb for extended periods.
Must pass gowning sampling within two attempts for entry into the cleanroom.
Proficient in rudimentary mathematical calculations related to compounding or manufacturing processes.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods for consecutive days.
Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
Experience and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Previous compounding experience preferred.
Previous cGMP or LEAN manufacturing experience is advantageous.
Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
Sterile/IV Certification (APCE accredited) preferred.
Experience with operating equipment and/or tools preferred.
