    Are you looking for the opportunity of a lifetime? STGi is looking to hire a Medical Director to cover the STGi clinics at Yellowstone National Park and support Healthcare Delivery line of business. 

     

    The Medical Director will work seasonally within moderate travel distance to the park and support at least 1 shift a week during the peak season from April-October each year in one of the three medical clinics in Yellowstone National Park. The clinics are located at Old Faithful, Lake Village and Mammoth Hot Springs. Lake and Old Faithful, our seasonal facilities, open from the beginning of May, and are in operation until the end of September each year. The Old Faithful and Lake Village clinics provide urgent and emergency care as well as some primary care for local residents and employees. A wide age range of patients with diverse injuries and illnesses are seen. Additionally, the Mammoth clinic functions as a primary care home for residents in the area and is staffed year-round by a physician. During the summer season, a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner is hired to staff on weekends to accommodate the expanded hours of service. Limited point-of-service lab and x-ray are available at all three facilities. 

     

    The National Park Service provides EMS services and medical control is provided by Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The Medical Director will work in collaboration with the STGi physician team (about 5 physicians) comprised of the Mammoth Clinic physician, Yellowstone National Park Medical Director and STGi’s Corporate Medical Director, STGi’s Assistant Corporate Medical Director and a contracted physician; provides consultation and oversight. The Medical Director will be an employee of STGi. Under STGi, the Medical Director will assist in providing all aspects of clinical services including direct care, including some additional administrative services to Yellowstone National Park. Some functions include administrative support such as participation in the quality audits/chart reviews, coordination with other providers and the Clinic Manager for policies, procedures, protocols, standing orders, and operational functions to support the clinics and clinical staff, coordination with local and federal health agencies in support of the rural population and some additional support to the overall Healthcare Delivery line of business. The employee policies of STGi apply to the Medical Director and full compliance is expected. 

     

    What to expect as a Healthcare Delivery Medical Director at Yellowstone: 

     

    • Be part of a team that provides excellent customer service to YNP’s employees and guests to the park 

    • Treat injuries and illnesses according to STGi’s Evidence Based Medicine practices and guidelines 

    • Administer screening and testing 

    • Provide wellness education 

    • Chart and document using AdvancedMD EMR 

    • During the peak season, support call-outs of provider level care as well as potential weekends or accommodate the expanded hours of service through call support to EMS and clinic providers.  

    • Follows the direction of the STGi corporate contract manager and Yellowstone Clinic Manager, supporting the statement of work and being the professional voice/advocate for rural, urgent and emergent medicine 

    • Work in close collaboration with the Clinic Manager and provide direct oversite for all clinical related issues at the clinics 

    • Support/develop training, hiring and leadership of all seasonal providers in coordination with the clinic manager and corporate support staff 

    • Build a strong union of workmanship and professionalism with the Clinic Manager to have confidence in the Clinic Manager being a resource to the Medical Director year round and when the Medical Director is not physical present  

    • This position works collaboratively with the PMO team and Clinic Manager to provide seasonal orientation and training, hiring and on-boarding of seasonal providers and ongoing clinical care throughout the peak season.  

    • During the off-peak season, continue to support the clinic in primarily a remote setting, not required to be on-site but will need to occasionally visit, fill in clinical shifts or meet with local area hospitals or government entities to advance the mission of the clinics at Yellowstone National Park 

    • Additional positive interface with the NPS EMS system and gateway community hospitals and support services are integral to the success of the role STGi plays in the park 

    • Responsible for managing local and corporate client relationships including: developing a professional and personal relationship that engenders trust and respect; promoting STGi, Inc.'s ethics and values; understanding the organizational and political environment of the clinics.  

    • Conduct local client and clinic needs assessment on a periodic basis.  

    • Understand contractual obligations & history of client relationships.  

    • Determine how the client will evaluate our performance.  

    • Build strong and nurturing relationships with STGi advocates.  

    • Participates in regular staff meetings and operations management team meetings. 

    • Promotes positive patient experiences throughout the community and region.  

    • Work effectively and relates well with others including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company.  

    • The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.

      

    Specific Administrative and/or Medical Practice Duties may include:  

    • Develop, review or revise policies and treatment protocols for all clinics and review for evidence based compliance yearly with the Clinic Manager and STGi Physician Team 

    • Support the procurement services for all controlled substances for seasonal clinics  

    • Attend quarterly and unscheduled concessions meetings, either remotely or in person depending on seasonal status 

    • Support development and vendor services for radiology with over read 

    • Support development and vendor services for eFAST ultrasound as well as potential training development in coordination with the Clinic Manager and lead clinical providers/nurses  

    • Support QA/QI functions with the Clinic Manager  

    • Support the Clinic Manager (when needed) in working with new providers to educate them in use of formulary, supplies and referrals and logistical nuances to transporting patients within the parameters of the NPS.  

    • Ongoing, review/revise practice guidelines for PA/NP Practice and review with the Clinic Manager  

    • Schedule development and education of clinic providers and supervising physicians Coordinate and administer performance appraisals for providers - midseason and end of season with YNP Medical Director, Operations Manager and Supervising Physicians feedback  

    • Review RFPs, providing professional assessment of services that may be required to be delivered by STGi Healthcare Delivery 

    • Develop/review policies, procedures, and protocols for new or procured ambulatory care models by identifying additional vendors or services to support the delivery of care 

    • Support technical development as needed and when capable for RFPs or other procurements under the Healthcare Delivery line of business

      

     

     

    You Must 

     

    • Have valid unrestricted state licensure in Wyoming (may be obtained after hiring) 

    • Have current ATLS, ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications 

    • Have a positive and outgoing personality, and be a collaborative team player 

    • Be comfortable practicing and living in a remote solo provider environment 

    • Be comfortable and productive working with computers and EMR software 

    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills – with patients, clients and colleagues 

    • Be willing to go above and beyond to give excellent customer service 

    • 5-10 years experience (relatable/equivalent considered)  as a Medical Director or Supervising Physician 

    • 3-5 year experience or equivalent in Rural Healthcare, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care settings
