    Job Description

    The Counselor at New Hope Ranch is responsible for providing addiction treatment to Inpatient Detoxification, Resident Treatment (RTC), Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient programs under the general supervision of the clinical director. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Counselor will perform direct services, including individual, family and group therapy, assessments, consultations and crisis interventions within the scope of the respective individual’s license.

    This position will be a group facilitator and will be responsible to run approximately 20-25 hours of group per week. There may be times, that this position will carry a small caseload.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, review at least monthly, and amend an individualized treatment plan for each client
    • Provide chemical dependency counseling to clients through chemical dependency education, group process, and individual counseling.
    • Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, accurate, complete and up-to-date clinical records.
    • Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for clients
    • Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care.
    • Collaborates with medical, nursing, and counseling staff regarding clients.
    • Provide Professional and ethical therapy to chemically dependent patients in treatment through group, individual counseling, family counseling, and education.
    • Documenting casework in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures, including writing objective case notes, progress and discharge reports, and other timely status reports as requested by the supervisor and according to Texas Department of State of Health Services & Joint Commission standards.
    • Systemically collect, record and analyze data and other relevant interactive social systems, including mental status, special precautions (suicidality, homicidality, elopement); physical problems/medical acuity (withdrawal and nutritional needs); and ethnic concerns (social, religious, or cultural needs).
    • Initiates/develops a treatment plan with specific goals and interventions unique to the needs of the patient.
    • Intervenes as guided by the treatment plan to implement appropriate interventions that promote, maintain, or restore physical and mental health, prevent illness effects on rehabilitation, and restore developmental progression in adulthood.
    • Provides health teaching for adult/family through individual and group interactions.

    This is a full-time position that will work Tuesday - Saturday (Day Shift).

    Qualifications

    • Unrestricted independent practice recognized licensure in Texas (LCDC)
    • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
    • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
