    Experience, Skills, and Education Requirements:

    1. At least 2 years of proven successful plant and/or machine operation experience preferred.

    2. Average tenure of at least 2 years over the past 5 years; 3 employers or fewer over the past 5 years.

    3. Two years of Industrial Gas industry experience with knowledge of welding processes and gas applications preferred.

    4. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, coachability, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communications skills.

    5. Qualified candidates must be able to successfully pass a drug screen, DMV check, criminal background check and assessment.

    6. Ability to work safely and maintain work area extremely clean and organized.

    7. Ability to lift 50 pounds and obtain/maintain forklift certification.

    8. High School diploma or GED required.

    Summary of Job Responsibilities:

    · Cylinder Filling

    o Fill Industrial, Medical, and Specialty gas cylinders, liquid containers, and tube trailers in compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.

    o Perform visual, physical, ring, and odor tests on cylinders before filling and determine whether retesting and/or repairs are required.

    o Fill cylinders and monitor pressure gauges and temperature to determine cylinder volume, and record instrument readings in log.

    o Learn the hazards of various gases, size and contents of cylinders, how to read and interpret cylinder labels, how to read and identify the DOT retest date of a cylinder, and cylinder Serial Numbers.

    o Comply with FDA requirements for filling Food/Medical grade cylinders.

    o Ensure daily fill logs and other paperwork are accurate, organized, and up to date.

    o Obtain and maintain Texas Railroad Commission Certification to fill DOT LPG (Propane) cylinders.

    o Use cylinder barcode scanning system to scan cylinders throughout the entire filling process. Make sure all information is entered accurately and always correct inaccurate information.

    o Perform routine maintenance on cylinders. Replace and repair safety relief valves. Install primary cylinder valves on cylinders using valving machine.

    o Input day’s cylinder production numbers into company software daily. Learn cylinder sizes, gas identification labels, and company gas codes for entering data daily.

    o Continually learn use of lab equipment to analyze Medical and Specialty gas cylinders. Ensure lab analysis data is accurately captured on required forms.

    · Plant Operations

    o When the Cylinder Filler/Plant Operator is not filling cylinders, they are expected to be a proactive team-player and perform other duties at their local plant. This may include organizing cylinder pallets in the plant’s yard, unloading cylinders off the trucks from the day’s deliveries, preparing cylinder pallets for the next day’s deliveries and loading them onto the trucks, cleaning the facility, off-loading deliveries from suppliers using the forklift, stamping and painting cylinders, assisting with customer installations, and other operations.
