The purpose of this position is to account for driver and fleet safety within Covenant, through running multiple reports, coaching drivers, teaching safety related classes, and striving to help our drivers be the safest fleet on the roadway. Above all, this job is to ensure our fleet remains in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Regulations for Highway Safety.
Responsibilities
- Manage all reporting functions related to the job, along with managing expirations and completing reviews.
- Keep a professional demeanor throughout reviews, phone calls, and in person meetings.
- Learn hazmat, data Qing, each type of safety and accident review, hours of service, root causes, reasonable suspicion
- Sit through all Safety Department taught classes, including but not limited to Orientation, Advanced Orientation (zoom), Logs, Trainer Class(zoom), PDP (zoom), Smith System, Confined Space, chaining, pre/post trip, and a road evaluation.
- Effectively communicate to all internal and external employees in the enterprise the importance of Safety.
- Investigates all possibilities for improvement within the fleet, enterprise, and industry.
- Collaborates with peers throughout departments in the enterprise, to determine needs and areas of improvement and help drive innovation.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites and assess the environment for potential accidents and find ways to prevent them from occurring.
- Complete random driver checks to ensure drivers are following policies and regulations, placing equipment properly, driving safely, and completing pre/post trips.
- Capable of effectively coaching drivers by helping to improve unsafe driver behaviors through coaching.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Education and Experience
- Highschool degree or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s preferred.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $40,000.63-$62,120.37
Pay Grade: 6
