    Job Description

    AECOM has a position available for a Health and Safety Compliance Professional located in Palo Alto, California. The successful candidate will be part of a team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for a wide range of health and safety consulting services in California. We are looking for a proven professional in the industry who understands health and safety regulations, environmental compliance, and has the ability to implement a variety of support services for our clients. The role includes the opportunity to support large local, national and international clients with their health and safety compliance and environmental compliance needs.

    _ **This position is contingent on AECOM being awarded the project with an expected start in April 2025._

    The successful candidate will have experience and be capable of executing the following responsibilities of this position with minimal to no supervision:

    • Conduct health and safety inspections and audits at various types of sites (manufacturing, commercial, high tech, etc.) for clients to identify potential deficiencies or hazards and determine corrective actions accordingly.
    • Ability to understand the intent and application of a varied set of health and safety-related state and federal regulations (OSHA and Cal OSHA), and the ability to effectively educate our clients specific to their regulatory obligations and compliance.
    • Provide on-site health and safety support services for various clients.
    • Develop and conduct health and safety-related employee training, emergency preparedness and assure the quality of programs for clients.
    • Develop, implement, review and maintain various OSHA and State required safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
    • Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment for clients to minimize hazards.
    • Provide Federal and California regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
    • Conduct accident investigations and prepare accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
    • Provide safety consultation for chemical and physical hazards including ergonomics, electrical safety, respiratory and hearing protection, compressed energy, and emergency preparedness.
    • Provide or collaborate with co-workers to provided similar environmental compliance services.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, safety, or related field.
    • 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in conducting health and safety inspections and audits at various types of sites (manufacturing, commercial, high tech, etc.).
    • Ability to travel at least 1 week per month (i.e. 25% of the time) to conduct H&S audits.
    • Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification is required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 8 years of relevant health and safety auditing/compliance experience.
    • Experience with safety in a laboratory environment.
    • Professional certification - CPEA, PE, CSP, CIH, or other equivalent certification.
    • California lead and asbestos certifications (e.g., Lead inspector/Risk Assessor, Certified Asbestos Consultant).
    • Experience with ISO 45001, 9001, 14001.
    • Experience with environmental compliance for industrial facilities.
    • Demonstrated communication, organization, and planning skills.
