Job Summary: The Sales Engineer will leverage technical expertise and sales proficiency to promote and sell specialized HVAC equipment to military clients (e.g., DoD and contractors) and large industrial customers (e.g., data centers, and energy facilities). This role requires navigating complex procurement processes, understanding mission-critical requirements, and delivering tailored solutions that meet rigorous specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
·Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with military procurement officers, defense contractors, industrial facility managers, and engineering firms to identify HVAC needs and propose solutions.
Technical Expertise: Provide detailed knowledge of specialized HVAC systems (e.g., blast-resistant units, mobile cooling systems, high-capacity chillers) suited for military and industrial applications, including presentations and technical consultations.
Sales Process: Identify opportunities, respond to RFPs/RFQs, prepare competitive bids, negotiate contracts, and close deals while achieving sales targets.
Military & Industrial Focus: Understand and comply with military standards (e.g., MIL-SPEC, ITAR) and industrial requirements (e.g., ASHRAE) to ensure product alignment with client expectations.
Project Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to customize HVAC solutions for extreme environments, high-security settings, or large-scale industrial operations.
Market Intelligence: Monitor trends in military and industrial sectors, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to strengthen market positioning.
Training & Support: Educate clients and internal teams on equipment specifications, installation procedures, and maintenance protocols specific to military and industrial use cases.
Documentation: Prepare comprehensive proposals, technical data packages, and compliance documentation to meet military and industrial procurement standards.
Travel: Conduct site visits, attend industry trade shows (e.g., AUSA), and meet clients nationwide (approximately 40% travel, adjust as applicable).
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 3-5 years of technical sales experience, with a focus on HVAC, military contracts, or industrial equipment sales preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including design, installation, and operation of specialized equipment.
Sales Skills: Proven ability to generate leads, negotiate contracts, and achieve sales goals.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Software Proficiency: Experience with CRM software (e.g., Monday), HVAC design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications: HVAC-specific certifications (e.g., ASHRAE) are a plus but not required.
Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
