Position Title: Sales Manager Department: Sales Reports To: General Manager
Role Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth within Division 27 (Communications) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety and Security) by leading the sales team, developing market strategies, and ensuring client satisfaction. This role involves overseeing sales operations, mentoring team members, collaborating with Operations, and cultivating long-term relationships with key clients.
The Sales Manager must have a strong understanding of structured cabling, AV systems, voice communications, and safety/security solutions to align client needs with company offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement sales strategies focused on Division 27/28 systems, including structured cabling, AV solutions, access control, and life safety systems.
Identify emerging trends in the communications and safety systems market and capitalize on opportunities.
Work with Operations to design and price solutions that are profitable and technically feasible.
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Sales Specialists, ensuring expertise in Division 27/28 systems.
Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team knowledge of cabling, AV, and safety/security technologies.
Provide ongoing coaching to improve client engagement and sales techniques.
Serve as a senior point of contact for high-value or complex projects in communications and safety systems.
Oversee client relationships to ensure satisfaction during project delivery and post-installation support.
Actively participate in building proposals for custom or large-scale solutions.
Collaborate closely with Lead Techs and the Operations Manager to align sales promises with delivery capabilities.
Ensure smooth handoffs from sales to operations through well-documented project scopes and technical requirements.
Address and resolve operational challenges that may arise during project execution.
Expand the customer base by targeting industries reliant on Division 27/28 systems, such as oil and gas, healthcare, education, and corporate sectors.
Foster relationships with architects, engineers, and general contractors to drive project leads.
Develop cross-selling and upselling strategies to increase revenue per client.
Track and report team metrics, including sales pipeline health, proposal conversion rates, and revenue performance.
Set individual and team quotas and hold the team accountable for achieving them.
Use CRM tools to monitor client interactions and forecast sales outcomes.
Key Skills and Qualifications
5+ years in sales management, preferably in communications, AV systems, or safety/security industries.
Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets in Division 27/28 systems or a related technical field.
Experience working with contractors, integrators, and end users.
Strong understanding of Division 27/28 products and services, including structured cabling, AV systems, access control, and surveillance.
Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, NFPA, and OSHA compliance).
Proficiency with CRM platforms and project management tools.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage a team of sales professionals.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to analyze market data, project pipelines, and team performance to identify growth opportunities.
Proficiency in preparing detailed sales forecasts and reports for senior leadership.

Proposal Success Rate: Maintain a proposal-to-deal conversion rate.

Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $75,000 - $100,000 (commensurate with experience).
Incentives: Performance-based bonuses and commissions tied to team revenue and profit margins.
