    Job Description

    Provides technical sales evaluation for in-house sales staff, as well as independent representatives, performing the sales duties as outlined below:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    SALES DUTIES

    • Provides support to VP of Sales, Regional Sales Manager and Senior Sales Project Engineer in promoting the sale of blow molding machinery and systems.
    • Prepares quotations for blow molding equipment, molds, tooling, and downstream equipment for prospects and customers.
    • Reviews applications, blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare proposals and cost estimates for products and services.
    • Provides technical sales evaluations/system sizing calculations for the Sales staff in development of equipment quotations.
    • Assists with technical support to Production, Service, Parts, and Engineering Department.
    • Assists in development of sales forecast.
    • Assists with plant tours and customer training sessions.
    • Updates technical data on Bekum machinery, as well as competitive products. ****

    APPLICATIONS DUTIES – ASSISTS WITH (AS REQUIRED):

    • Assists the Applications department on blow molding trials, materials testing, tooling and mold evaluations.
    • Assists in machine run-off and final acceptance prior to shipment to ensure conformity with established parameters.
    • Assists with accurate documentation and report generation during machine run-offs, final acceptance, customer demonstrations and lab evaluations.

    GENERAL:

    • Identifies, contacts, and establishes relationships with accounts currently using similar products, providers of raw materials and sub-suppliers in the plastics industry.
    • Reviews trade journals to stay current with state-of-the-art technologies, competitive activities and marketing, sales information.
    • Travels to customer locations to assist as required in the field and also for ongoing sales training.
    • Assist with the updating of the department manuals as needed.
    • Researches and investigates industry trends and developments including replacement materials and new technology.
    • Ensures all applicable information is maintained in a confidential manner.
    • Controls expenditures within authorized limits.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BS Degree in plastic engineering technology (or related field) from four (4) year college or university.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to travel extensively. Strong technical and plastics background also necessary. Working knowledge of personal computers. Software proficiencies should include word processing, spreadsheet capabilities, and mainframe experience. Responsible for performing all work efficiently and in compliance with quality, quantity, and safety standards as established by Bekum.
