    Job Summary:

    Ballard Marine Construction is looking to hire a Saturation Crew for the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion in Virginia. Each position will need to have the knowledge and experience ensuring the safety and efficiency of underwater operations, experience maintaining the saturation diving systems, report changes or factors affecting the integrity of the diving system, initiation of decompression, treatment procedures, extensive knowledge of diving equipment, and ensure the safety of saturation compressed air workers in decompression chambers or saturation systems.     Education:

    • Valid offshore medical certificate and diving certifications (IMCA, ADCI, or equivalent).
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in a related field is preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Saturation Dive Technician or similar role in the offshore Oil & Gas industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of saturation diving systems, equipment, and operations.

    Skills:

    • Strong understanding of diving safety protocols and regulations. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Physically fit and able to work in challenging offshore conditions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate and maintain saturation diving systems, including dive control panels, decompression chambers, and life support systems.
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on all diving equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
    • Monitor and control the saturation diving environment, including gas supply, temperature, and pressure levels.
    • Conduct pre-dive and post-dive checks to ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
    • Collaborate with dive supervisors, divers, and other team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
    • Troubleshoot and repair any issues with diving equipment promptly.
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, and diving operations.
    • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved in the diving operation.
    • Participate in safety drills and training sessions to stay updated with the latest safety practices and procedures.


    Physical Demands/Working Environment:

    • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled

    · Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions.

    • Long hours and exposure to strenuous conditions
    • Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)

    · Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.

    · Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.

    • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
    • Must be able to hear adequately enough to receive and understand instructions, be alerted by horns, sirens, shouting, or any other noise that is meant to convey a safety warning.
    • Lift arms above shoulder level (i.e. lifts items into a truck or overhead area).
    • Climb ladders or steps to reach objects.
    • Must be able to work at heights of up to 50’ or more.
    • Must be able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
    • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots, or other applicable PPE.
    • Must be able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).
    • Ability to travel and work for many weeks at a time away from home.
