  • Responsibilities

    USPI’s Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center is currently hiring for a full-time Scheduler.

    Under the direction of the Business Office Coordinator, is responsible for daily maintenance of the surgery schedule and all aspects of the scheduling process. This includes strategizing and problem solving and ensuring high levels of customer service with scheduling coordinators from all doctors'' offices and Operating Room Staff.

    • Sets priorities and organizes work.
    • Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information.
    • Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
    • Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.
    • Verifies information being entered into system is correct, i.e. spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc.
    • Ensuring all necessary paper work for any patient -add on'' is received by the appropriate staff.
    • Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff
    • Ensures all required fields in Advantx are completed
    • Works closely with the Clinical Director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts.
    • Alerts administration when new doctors or procedures are scheduled.
    • Ensures accuracy of scheduling notice before submitting to the chart builder.
    • Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process.
    • Cross trains with other areas.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Schedule: Monday- Friday – Typical hours between 8-4:30pm

    Required Skills

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Previous surgical scheduling experience preferred.
    • proficient with computers and possess the ability to learn and be successful with multiple electronic computer applications.
    • basic math skills and reasoning ability.
    • requires outstanding communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to diffuse difficult scheduling conflicts efficiently.
    • demonstrate previous successful/positive customer service encounters.
    • ability to work in collaborative relationships for the benefit of all patients and families receiving care and must be able to work with other employees in close proximity and promote positive relationships throughout the department.

  • Qualifications
