The Bus Driver's role involves transporting students along designated routes to and from different school locations, prioritizing the safety of all passengers, especially those with special needs. They operate their assigned bus responsibly and ensure it is always in a safe and operational state, following established policies and procedures under general supervision.
Qualifications:
Education: GED or High School Diploma
Experience: Experience in the operation of large passenger vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training; ability to manage student behavior
License or Certification: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements
Completed bus driver safety training course
Must be over 21 years old
Pass alcohol and drug tests
DOT Physical Examination
Responsibilities:
Drive school buses safely according to schedules, ensuring students travel to and from homes, various school sites, and field trips as assigned.
Maintain order among students, manage conflicts, and document serious disciplinary incidents.
Perform daily safety and operational checks on the assigned vehicle.
Student Support and Documentation:
Supervise the loading and unloading of students, ensuring they are released to authorized individuals and seat belts are secured in passenger vans.
Keep accurate records including mileage, routes, maintenance activities, and schedules.
Notify appropriate parties promptly about any delays in the scheduled route.
Availability and Commitment:
Meet a minimum of 30-40 hours per week.
