    School Clinical Counselor

Our client offers a range of services, including primary medical and dental care, pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology. Many locations also provide lab and x-ray services, as well as pharmacy options at six sites.

    The Position:

    We are seeking a full-time School Clinical Counselor (Psychologist, LMHC or LCSW) to join our outpatient team at a local Elementary school here in Lakeland, FL! The Clinical Counselor (Licensed Therapist) for Community Partnership Schools supports the mental health and wellbeing of students and families. Their key duties involve assessing the behavioral and counseling needs of individuals served, developing treatment plans, providing counseling services, and connecting students/families with appropriate community resources.

    Qualifications:

    • Florida State License (LMHC, LCSW or Clinical/School Psychologist) 
    • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and or Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and or Social Work
    • No reprimands or deficiencies
    • Experience working with elementary aged children and their families
    • Bilingual English and Spanish Required
    • 1+ Year of Experience Required 

    Responsibilities:

    • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
    • No on-call responsibilities
    • No evenings or weekends
    • Addresses referrals from providers.
    • Provides therapeutic services to children and their families. Observes client behavior, assesses needs and develops treatment plans and strategies.
    • Diagnoses psychological, behavioral and emotional disorders.
    • Completes required documentation and paperwork in a timely manner. Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical progress notes, according to organizational policy during the course of patient’s treatment.
    • Consults with doctors, psychologist, education and medical professionals when appropriate.
    • Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of referral resources throughout the service area and acts as advocate to help patient and their families gain access to such resources.
    • Maintains up to date knowledge of community wrap around services as a resource for families. Refers to social service programs.
    • Participates in community service and health promotion programs. Participates in quality management activities as necessary. Responsible for ongoing staff and provider education and updates to committees on Behavioral Health Integration Project.
    • Provides positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, physicians, members of the healthcare team, members of the education/school team, referral sources, services agencies and others.
