School Nurse Coordinator- (Building and District Responsibilities)
JOB TITLE :
School Nurse Coordinator
TYPE OF POSITION : Certified/classified
REPORTS TO : Human Resources
(This position is in addition to a School Nurse Position)
POSITION PURPOSE :
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Concord Community School policies and Indiana State law. This will include but not be limited to the following
Perform all duties as listed under Staff School Nurse job description.
Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources on a regular basis.
Supervises and gives guidance to employees of health care services.
Schedule and conduct meetings with staff nurses as needed.
Schedule training for staff nurses as directed by the Indiana Department of Health and Indiana Department of Education.
Assist staff nurses as needed with screenings.
Coordinate and monitor Corporation wide immunization status.
Assist the building principal in the interviewing and hiring of new employees for health care service program.
Training of new employees to the health care service program.
Address complaints concerning health care program and be involved in the resolution there of.
Order and distribute health care supplies and printed material.
Maintain supply of stock emergency medications. (ie. narcan, epinephrine)
Coordinate and maintain AEDs in the district.
Maintain expenditure records and stay within allotted budget for health care program.
Prepare written reports as required to the Indiana Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Education.
Prepare written annual report of health care program activities for the Board of Education and the Superintendent.
Based on needs and with input from staff nurses, develops program goals, objectives, and action steps.
Plan school health program in cooperation with administrative personnel and staff nurses.
Attends committee meetings and conferences as indicated and/or required.
Coordinate vision screening, growth and development programs, immunization clinics, and other student health education programs.
Update and provide parent informational packets for Kindergarten round up.
Inform parents and students of new information re disease and immunizations as directed by the Indiana Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Education.
Obtain the most current legislative changes, updates, and requirements involving health care service. Notify staff nurses and other pertinent staff.
Concord Community School’s Healthy School Point of Contact person for the Department of Education and Indiana Department of Health. Distributes information that is received to the appropriate persons.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Registered Nurse with valid Indiana license
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
CPR/AED certified
Valid driver’s license
Personal Vehicle
Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence
School Nurse experience preferred
