    Wichita Collegiate School (WCS), a thriving Independent School located in Wichita, KS, will add a School Nurse to dedicated team for the 2025/26 school year. The School Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students, monitoring student health and wellness, and collaborating with school staff and families to support student health and academic success.

    Primary Responsibilities :

    • Assess student health complaints and administer medications.
    • Provide direct care to students for injuries and acute illness and long-term management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, seizures, etc.
    • Collaborate with parents/guardians and students’ healthcare providers to ensure emergency healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions are in place and communicated to the appropriate individuals such as the student’s teachers, coaches, trip leaders, etc.
    • Maintain and ensure confidential communication and documentation of student health information and clinical records.
    • Provide screenings and referrals for health conditions.
    • Promote a healthy school environment by monitoring immunizations, ensuring appropriate isolation for students’ with infectious illnesses, and reporting communicable diseases as required by law.
    • Serve as a resource to faculty and administrators on health education topics such as nutrition, exercise, tobacco prevention and cessation, oral health, infectious diseases, substance use and abuse, and immunizations.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer in the development and evaluation of school health policies.
    • Serve as a liaison between the school, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers to address student healthcare needs.
    • Stay current on trends and best practices in student health and nursing.
    • Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.
    • Respond to medical emergencies as needed and provide first aid and CPR as necessary.
    • Comply with all school policies, state and federal laws, and professional standards related to school nursing practice.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing.
    • Current BLS Certification.
    • Understand how to use technology to improve workflow.
    • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, and healthcare providers.

    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school environment. Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting and standing, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with responsibilities from August - May. Days of work are Monday through Friday.
