Position Summary Elev8 Baltimore is a full-service Community School initiative that uses a set of strategic partnerships and opportunities to create improved conditions for student success. Extended Learning has an aligned schedule with the Elev8 Extended Learning Program.
The SEL Coach will provide strategies that build on the competencies of social emotional learning, offer tools to increase mental health wellness, and provide behavioral health support for students and families of those enrolled. This position focuses on social and emotional learning to help guide their success in school, as they transition to middle school or high school.
The SEL Coach is a full-time 10-month role during the academic year (start of school year through June) with a schedule that is aligned with the extended learning programs.
Compensation for this role is $63,000 annually for 10-months, prorated for the first year if working less than 10 months. This role is expected to continue each academic year, contingent upon funding.
TRAVEL: Local travel required.
STATUS: Exempt
HOURS: Typically M-F 10 AM - 6 PM
Program and Student Support Responsibilities:
Recruit a group of 10-12 students identified by school leadership for intensive SEL work to enhance the focus of increased attendance and overall school success in concert with the BCPSS District’s goal of improvements at 25%
Participate in planning, practice and team meetings to assess needs and coordinate services for students and their families
Work in collaboration with school community staff, to include both Elev8 peers as well as school staff
Experience in the delivery of programmatic services with an emphasis on social emotional learning (SEL) competencies
Participate in required training to support organizational approved interventions including, but not limited to:
Family Check Up
Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma/Bounce Back
Trauma-Focused CBT
Demonstrates cultural humility, competency and commitment to clients
Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy of the agency
Other duties as assigned
Communication and Documentation:
Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner
Responsive to communication (emails, texts, etc)
Maintain all required documentation
Review and provide support to maintain accurate and timely documentation in Elev8 systems
Prepare reports for program, partners and funding sources
Agency/Team Cohesion:
Responsible for attending mandatory Elev8 Divisional meetings
Attend agency meetings and events
Complete required training on time
Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures
Prepare for and attend regularly scheduled meetings with manager
Uphold organization values related to race, equity, and liberation of people and communities of color
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in social work, education, psychology or public health with at least 2 or more years work experience required.
Master's in social work, education or public health strongly preferred
Proficient in MS Office, data collection software, evaluation platforms and tools
Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple critical projects simultaneously and complete them in a timely manner with extreme accuracy
Preferred:
Baltimore City residency is strongly preferred
Demonstrated commitment to working in service of youth, marginalized communities and communities experiencing the systematic effects of concentrated poverty
