The Role
Kincaid’s Is Music, Inc. is now hiring a School Services Specialist. We are a musical instrument and accessory retail store (brick & mortar and online) that helps people find the instruments and accessories they need to make great music that positively impacts humans and the world. Yet many, especially parents of school band and orchestra participants, don’t know what they need. We help them find instruments affordably and guide them through their (or their child’s) musical journey.
ROLE: School Services Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Sales JOB TYPE: Full-Time Employee (40 hours a week) LOCATION: Springfield, OH
Mission/ Purpose:
Support the operations of the School Services Division, completing system-based tasks to ensure that all "backstage" functions are running smoothly, efficiently, and accurately. This is essential to providing the best service possible to our school customers.
You will have three primary roles:
Order Fulfillment & Follow-up - Ensure all orders placed by our music educators are ordered in a timely manner, invoiced properly, and staged for delivery. Communicate with directors and school administrators to ensure accuracy of billing, purchase orders, etc.
Repair Workflow - As instrument repairs come in from schools, they must be entered into our system, sent through the shop in an order conducive to 1-week turnaround times, then invoiced and staged for delivery back to the schools.
Assist with customer service in our building - answer phones and help walk-in customers by identifying needs and getting them to the right team member promptly, or stepping in yourself, when necessary, to give each customer a 5-star experience.
Role Competencies:
Organized & Detail-Oriented – You are not only able to keep yourself organized, but keep the Music Education Specialists (road reps) and Repair Technicians organized, as well. You have meticulous attention to detail, keeping the team working as a well-oiled machine.
Customer Centric – You focus on how we can create a world-class experience for our customers and improve customer satisfaction.
Time Management - You are great at time management and know how to protect others’ time so they can focus on their most important tasks.
Dependable Team Player - You don't mind being in a background role and enjoy working closely with others. You'll be working hard to make the team look good for the sake of our customers.
Flexible – You are fluid and flexible and do not cave when there is additional stress (and also know what needs to be done when things are less stressful to move goals forward).
The Requirements
We believe in finding people who are a great match for the role they play. That’s why we’re looking for the right candidate who has the perfect combination of being driven by purpose, fueled by passion, and open to being coached to their next level of growth.
MBA’s, GPA’s, and degrees aren’t what we’re looking for over here, although if you have them, that’s great! What matters more is that your heart is in it and you have a track record of getting stuff done!
That being said, feel free to apply even if you don’t check all the boxes below. Just make sure to mention that in your application and explain why we should consider you.
Required:
Have music experience in your past.
Can lift & move large instruments like sousaphones, tubas, string basses, etc.
You’re capable with online databases and software (we regularly use G-Suite, Podium, AIM, & Freshdesk).
You are dependable and reliable in your attendance.
Available to work 8:30am to 4:30pm -OR- 9am to 5pm EST, Mon-Fri. (40 hours/wk)
Preferred:
You have operations / organizational experience in your past.
You were involved in school music (band and/or orchestra). Orchestra experience would be awesome!
Disqualifiers: Please DO NOT apply for this position if you…
Cannot commit to working M-F 9a - 5p.
Aren’t willing/open to receive constructive feedback.
Need help staying organized.
Have no experience in music, particularly school band or orchestra.
Do not consider yourself one of the most motivated, flexible, team-oriented, resilient, and driven people you know.
Hate working a system and making it more efficient.
If you don’t resonate with the above disqualifiers and your friends and family can back you up on that, apply today! We may just be a match! 🙂
